Privacy Policy

Brogan LLC ("Brogan", "we", "us" or "our") makes the brogan.io website and these apps: Oh Snap, Clocket, Spell It and Fuel (Carve) for iPhone and iPad, and Easy Resume for iPhone, iPad and Mac. This policy explains what information we collect through them, why we collect it, who else receives it, and the choices you have.

Clocket, Spell It and Easy Resume also have their own, more detailed privacy policies at clocket.com/privacy, spellit.app/privacy and easyresume.brogan.io/privacy. If one of those says something different from this page, that app's own policy applies to that app.

The short version

We collect what each app needs to work: your sign-in details, the things you create in the app, your subscription status, and crash reports and usage statistics that help us fix and improve the apps. We don't sell your information. We don't show third-party ads in our apps or on this website, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

The brogan.io website

The website has no accounts or advertising, and it sets no cookies. Its only form is the contact form described below.

Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel receives technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, and uses it to deliver the page and protect the site from abuse.

Analytics. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It tells visits apart using a short-lived identifier derived from the request, which is discarded within 24 hours and can't be used to recognize you across sites or days.

Fonts and code libraries. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and code from cdnjs and the jQuery CDN. Your browser connects to those services directly, so they receive your IP address and browser information.

Email and the contact form. If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your email address, whatever you put in the message and, for the form, the name you enter. We use them only to reply to you. Messages sent through the contact form are delivered to our inbox by email through Resend.

Information our apps collect

Account details. Oh Snap, Clocket, Spell It and Fuel let you create an account with Sign in with Apple, Google or an email address. We receive your email address, your name if you choose to share it, and a user ID. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider, Google Firebase, and we never see them. Easy Resume has no accounts.

What you create. In the apps with accounts, what you add is stored with your account so it can sync across your devices.

Oh Snap: the affirmations and reminders you write, and when you want them delivered.

Clocket: your jobs, shifts, time entries, breaks, pay rates and earnings. If you set up a location reminder, Clocket uses your location on your device to remind you when you arrive at or leave the place you chose. Your location isn't sent to us.

Spell It: learner profiles (a name, avatar and color chosen by the grown-up on the account), spelling lists, pronunciations a grown-up records in their own voice, and practice results. See "Children" below.

Fuel (Carve): your food log, your nutrition and weight goals, and the details you enter to calculate them, such as birth date, height, weight and activity level. Barcode and nutrition label scanning happens on your device. When you look up a food, the search term or barcode is sent to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's FoodData Central database, without your name or account details. If you connect Apple Health, Fuel reads your active and resting energy to calculate your daily calorie target and saves those daily totals with your log. Fuel doesn't write anything to Apple Health. Data from Apple Health is used only for these features and is never used for advertising or marketing or sold.

Easy Resume: your resumes are kept in your own iCloud Drive, which Apple manages and which Easy Resume needs to save them. They aren't sent to us.

Subscriptions and purchases. Purchases in our apps are processed by Apple. RevenueCat receives your App Store receipt and an app user ID and tells the app which subscription or purchase you have, so it can unlock it. Clocket subscriptions bought on clocket.com are processed by Stripe. We never receive your full card number.

Crash reports. When an app crashes or hits an error, it sends a report to Firebase Crashlytics, and Clocket and Spell It also send reports to Sentry. A report describes what the app was doing and your device model and system version, and it may include your user ID so we can match it to your account when you ask us for help.

Usage statistics. Our apps record events such as which screens are opened and which features are used, so we can tell what's working. Oh Snap, Clocket, Spell It, Fuel and Easy Resume use Google Analytics for Firebase, which also works out your approximate country or region from your IP address. Clocket also uses Mixpanel and PostHog. The 2023 Mac version of Easy Resume also sends TelemetryDeck anonymized signals rather than personal identifiers; later versions don't. Our apps don't collect your device's advertising identifier.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, Oh Snap, Clocket and Spell It register your device's push token with Apple and Firebase Cloud Messaging so they can deliver reminders.

Device permissions. Our apps ask before they use your camera (Fuel, to scan barcodes and nutrition labels), microphone (Spell It, to record pronunciations), location (Clocket, for location reminders) or Apple Health (Fuel). You can change any of these, and notifications, in iOS Settings at any time.

How we use information

We use the information above to provide the apps and keep your data in sync, sign you in, unlock and manage subscriptions, answer your questions, find and fix bugs, decide what to improve, keep our services secure and prevent abuse, and meet our legal obligations. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't build profiles about you for anyone else.

Who else receives information

We rely on a small number of service providers, and each one receives only what it needs to do its job for us:

Google Firebase (Google LLC): sign-in, database, file storage, server functions, crash reports, analytics, remote settings and push notifications for our apps.
Apple: Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, iCloud and push notification delivery.
Google Sign-In: if you choose to sign in with Google.
RevenueCat: subscription status for our apps.
Stripe: payments for Clocket subscriptions bought on the web.
Sentry: error reports for Clocket and Spell It.
Mixpanel and PostHog: usage statistics for Clocket.
TelemetryDeck: anonymized usage statistics from the 2023 Mac version of Easy Resume.
Resend: emails sent by Clocket and Spell It, such as Clocket team invitations and Spell It's confirmation that a grown-up agreed to its notice, and delivery of messages sent through the brogan.io contact form.
USDA FoodData Central: food lookups in Fuel.
Vercel: hosting and cookieless analytics for brogan.io and the Clocket web app.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or as part of a merger, sale or transfer of our business, in which case this policy will keep applying to your information. We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

brogan.io sets no cookies and runs no advertising or cross-site tracking, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to turn off. If your browser sends one, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, which we don't do anyway. The Clocket web app has its own analytics choices, described in Clocket's privacy policy.

How long we keep information

We keep your account and what you create for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete its data from our active systems, and backup copies expire on their normal schedule. Crash reports are kept for about 90 days, and analytics data for the period set in each provider's retention settings. If you email us or use the contact form, we keep the conversation for as long as it helps us support you. We keep some records longer when the law or a legitimate need requires it, such as purchase records or, for Spell It, the record that a grown-up agreed to its notice.

Your choices and rights

Delete your account. In Oh Snap, Clocket, Spell It and Fuel, you can delete your account and its data from the app's settings. Easy Resume keeps your resumes in your iCloud Drive, where you can delete them yourself.

See, correct or get a copy of your data. You can see and edit your information in the app. To get a copy of your data, or for anything you can't do in the app, email hello@brogan.io from the email address on your account. We reply within 30 days.

California privacy rights

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"), gives you rights over your personal information.

In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, from you and from your devices, for the purposes described in "How we use information": identifiers (such as your name, email address, user ID, device push token and IP address); commercial information (your subscription and purchase history); internet or other electronic network activity (usage statistics and crash reports); approximate location (your country or region, worked out from your IP address); audio recordings (pronunciations recorded in Spell It); and the content you create in our apps. Fuel also collects health information (energy totals from Apple Health and body details such as height and weight), which the CCPA treats as sensitive personal information. We use it only to provide Fuel's features, and we don't use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.

We disclose these categories only to the service providers listed above, for the purposes described there. We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we haven't done so in the past 12 months. We don't knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to get a copy of it; to correct it; to delete it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, email hello@brogan.io from the email address on your account. We may need to confirm it's you before we act. An authorized agent can make a request for you if they show us your signed permission.

Other U.S. states. If you live in another state with a consumer privacy law, such as Colorado, Connecticut, Texas or Virginia, you can make the same requests by email. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we'll respond within the time your state's law requires.

Users outside the United States

Brogan LLC is based in the United States. Your information is processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your information because we need it to provide the app you asked for, for our legitimate interest in keeping our services reliable and secure and improving them, and with your consent where we ask for it, such as device permissions. You can ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or transfer your information, or object to how we process it, by emailing hello@brogan.io. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

The brogan.io website and our apps other than Spell It are not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Spell It is made to be used by learners, including children, on profiles under a grown-up's account. A grown-up gate keeps signing in, recording, sharing and purchases on the grown-up side of the app. Spell It's privacy policy and its Notice to Grown-ups explain exactly what Spell It collects from learners and how a grown-up can review or delete it.

If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent's consent, email hello@brogan.io and we'll delete it.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit, stored on managed cloud infrastructure behind access controls and security rules, and accessible only to people who need it to run our services. No method of sending or storing information is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Emails from us

We email you only when there's a reason to: account and sign-in messages, confirmations, and replies to your questions. If we ever send news or offers, every one will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can always ask us to stop by emailing hello@brogan.io.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we'll also tell you in the affected app or by email before it takes effect.
